Shani M. King is the multiple award-winning children\u2019s book author of Have I Ever Told You<\/em> (2019) and Have I Ever Told You Black Lives Matter<\/em> (2021). The latter was described as \u201cluminous\u201d by The New York Times Book Review, \u201ca children\u2019s tome filled with Black excellence\u201d by Entertainment Weekly, \u201ca bold homage to the Black experience\u201d by the San Francisco Chronicle, and \u201can empowering, fiery speech of a book\u201d in a starred review from Booklist.<\/p>

His children\u2019s biography, Finding Rebecca: The Forgotten Life of Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler<\/em>, America\u2019s First Black Female Doctor<\/em>, was praised by Kirkus Reviews as \u201ca study in perseverance\u2014both that of the book\u2019s subject and the author who unearthed her story.\u201d<\/p>

His newest picture book, You Are My Favorite Story<\/em> (with N. Jeremi Duru and illustrated by John Jay Cabuay), is a heartfelt celebration of the bond between father and child. Through lyrical prose and tender moments\u2014from bedtime whispers to after-school reunions\u2014the book explores the love, pride, fear, and hope that define fatherhood while encouraging meaningful conversations between fathers and their children.<\/p>

Shani is a children\u2019s rights lawyer by training and teaches law at Rutgers Law School. When he\u2019s not teaching or writing, he\u2019s usually with his two children\u2014who inspire his books\u2014and his brilliant, kind wife. In what little spare time he has, Shani runs marathons (slowly), skis whenever he possibly can, and plays the drums (badly).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
